10 REASONS FOR ENDING PROHIBITION OF MARIJUANA
1. Prohibition is a failure. It has failed to stop use, sales, growth, and
importation of marijuana since 1937 when enacted. If prohibition was a business
it would be bankrupt and out of business wasting money on a failed policy and
the corruption that has accompanied it.
2. It will restore personal freedoms to our citizens.
3. It will free up law enforcement for real crimes and stop the corruption
within the departments.
4. It will stop wasting money for the enforcement, courts, jails, and national
guard/private helicopters.
5. It will raise revenue through taxation of sales of marijuana + products made
from it.
6. It will re-legalize medical marijuana.
7. It will re-legalize hemp farming and create various industries that would use
hemp in Maine.
8. It will stop incarcerating people and free all those in jails now, as well as
pardon those who have been previously charged civilly or arrested clearing their
records.
9. It will put the punitive measures for youth back in the hands of the parents,
jurisdiction instead of making criminals out of our youth of Maine.
10. It will stop the Gov. from discriminating against youth who have been busted
for marijuana that may otherwise qualify for any educational benefits.
