OPEN LETTER TO ALL MAINE MMJ CAREGIVERS AND PATIENTS

I ATTENDED THE MEETING HELD AT THE VFW HALL ON CHURSH ST. IN PARIS MAINE LAST NITE  JUNE 30, 2010

APROXIMATELY 15 PEOPLE SHOWED UP BUT NO ONE WOULD PUT THERE NAME ON HIS SIGN IN SHEET.   WE ALL SAT IN A BIG CIRCLE AND HE STARTED THE MEETING ASKING IF THERE WERE ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT PRESENT OR ANY ONE ASSOCIATED WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THE ROOM?

As folks gave out their first name and why they were their some were “mmj” patients, some were potential caregivers and some were just curious.

Mr. Leavitt explained the importance of folks signing up with his organization to start growing “mmj” but not to have any part of doing it by the law as a registered caregiver through DHHS.

Someone asked why any one would want to be a caregiver and not register with the state.  His reply you was to the effect of you will be covered under the “umbrella” of my organization we give you a binder stating you are working under for this organization if caught and also we have a binder when you are delivering “mmj” to patients that contains personal info to show law enforcement you are legal.  Upon this it was asked why not use a “trip ticket”? There was no reply.

That led into question that if folks cultivate “mmj” under your organization if arrested do you have legal council for growers? The response was that Cow Pasture Productions has legal council but the organization will not offer you legal council if arrested, even while working for them under their “Umbrella”

Confidentiality concerns were also raised about his organization is layered and what protection was offered to the actual patients; Again no good answer was given by Mr. Leavitt.

Then Mr. Leavitt stated if you sign a contract working under the “umbrella”  of my organization and you are charging more then $200.00  per ounce to a patient you have to pay a yearly donation to the organization.  Inevitably the question was asked, “What will the money be used for?”  The response to continue working with legislsature to change the laws.  It was also clearly indicted that Mr. Leavitt is in no hurry to legalize Marijuana either further guaranteeing his potential stranglehold on people.

A situation that was brought up by a specific person I am very good friends with.  They person was approached by Cow Pasture to grow “mmj” which they agreed to as a patient and were also offered the potential to make back some expenses involved with cultivation.  They came in his home set up shop for them.  The party involved rightfully wanted answers on why this was being done, after all Mr. Leavitt was present and he is the head Cow Pasture.  His response was he will not discuss this now,  or in front of other town folks who were in attendance for moral support to this party that has endured such nightmare on his property at the hands of cow pastures henchmen. This party told by one of the organizations members that he “would be a millionaire by selling his extra medicine back to Cow Pasture.”  (Authors note: Please see the second document that written by this person having issues with Cow Pasture, it has greater details)

Mr. Leavitt would not respond when directly asked what are you going to do about this behavior his “care providers”, he was also asked about his policy regarding pre-employment screen and background checks, his reply was “no” to any form of background research, potentially putting his clients in harms way

 Then end of the meeting had Mr. Leavitt wanting the pieces of “Medicine” people brought to “check the quality” and to have folks sign  a contract with him under his “umbrella”  grow “mmj” for patients and his organization is using to add to their bottom line.

At the meeting closing everyone walked away signing anything,

being caregiver can be done with out having to pay dues to a organization.
